In this five-class series, we will practice connections.
Using the 5Rhythms map, during the first co-facilitated class and then for the three next consecutive classes, we will explore how we connect in flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness. What happens when we connect with the beat, the music. How do we connect with our feet, knees, hips, ribcage, shoulders, elbows, head, arms and hands? How do we connect from up close, afar, in pairs, in small or large groups? How do we connect when we move across the dance floor or through the room? How do we connect and then disconnect from ourselves, from others? How do we maintain our own dance and still connect with another? Let’s examine all the ways we connect in the 5Rhythms.
Using the concepts of Open Floor, in the first co-facilitated class, and then the last class of the series, we will also explore how we connect on the dance floor using this approach, learning new concepts, shapes, words and movements, to expand our movement vocabulary.
You can attend the whole series or can just drop into certain sessions.

CREW (WORK-EXCHANGE) SPOTS:
We are seeking people who wish to participate as class crew. This role involves arriving 30 minutes early, helping to set-up, greeting people as they are coming in, and staying for 30 minutes after class, to help put things away. During the class, you are a dancer like everyone else, with no crew responsibilities. The work-exchange is free admission to class on the date(s) that you help out. You must make a commitment to the class date(s) that you sign-up for, or find a replacement among other crew members. Please indicate your interest on the form below.
PLEASE REGISTER BELOW FOR THE CONNECTIONS CLASS SERIES – YOU CAN REGISTER FOR THE WHOLE SERIES OR A SINGLE CLASS.
ABOUT THE 5RHYTHMS:
Created by Gabrielle Roth and practiced by tens of thousands worldwide, 5Rhythms® is a philosophy, perspective, performance art and a dynamic movement practice rooted in the principle that if you put the psyche in motion, it will heal itself. Movement is both the medicine and the metaphor, reaching across all languages, cultures and age groups to transform suffering into art, art into awareness, and awareness into action. Wherever the 5Rhythms are practiced, a community is born to dance, to sweat, to change, to support and to provide a safe space for each of us to shatter the ego’s hold and awaken the juicy, unpredictable, fascinating, edge-waling, rock star part of ourselves that years to be free.
