In this five-class series, we will practice connections.
Using the 5Rhythms map, during the first co-facilitated class and then for the three next consecutive classes, we will explore how we connect in flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness. What happens when we connect with the beat, the music. How do we connect with our feet, knees, hips, ribcage, shoulders, elbows, head, arms and hands? How do we connect from up close, afar, in pairs, in small or large groups? How do we connect when we move across the dance floor or through the room? How do we connect and then disconnect from ourselves, from others? How do we maintain our own dance and still connect with another? Let’s examine all the ways we connect in the 5Rhythms.
Using the concepts of Open Floor, in the first co-facilitated class, and then the last class of the series, we will also explore how we connect on the dance floor using this approach, learning new concepts, shapes, words and movements, to expand our movement vocabulary.
You can attend the whole series or can just drop into certain sessions.

*Tiered pricing is available so that those of us with more can share, and those of us who could use some support can receive it. When you register at the Supporter rate, a portion of your registration fee is applied toward another dancer’s reduced-rate spot. If a lower price will make the classes accessible for you, please register at the ‘Supported’ rate. If you know you want to dance regularly, and these prices are a barrier for you, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org for a possible partial scholarship or work-exchange.
*Available Discount: A 50% discount (single class or full series) is available to anyone who identifies as a person of colour, regardless of ability to pay. Please apply your discount when you send your e-transfer.
REFUND POLICY: There are no refunds. If you must cancel your attendance due to testing positive for COVID-19, you will be offered a class credit which can be applied towards a future class with Elisa. If you are unable to attend for other reasons, first please let us know so we may release your spot to another dancer. In the event that we are at capacity and we are able to fill your spot, you will be offered two options: you may donate your tuition to the scholarship fund, or you may receive a class credit which can be applied towards a future class with Elisa. No credits will be issued for no-shows, or if we have not reached capacity. To request a class credit, please email email@example.com.

CREW (WORK-EXCHANGE) SPOTS:
We are seeking people who wish to participate as class crew. This role involves arriving 30 minutes early, helping to set-up, greeting people as they are coming in, and staying for 30 minutes after class, to help put things away. During the class, you are a dancer like everyone else, with no crew responsibilities. The work-exchange is free admission to class on the date(s) that you help out. You must make a commitment to the class date(s) that you sign-up for, or find a replacement among other crew members. Please indicate your interest on the form below.
PLEASE REGISTER BELOW FOR THE CONNECTIONS CLASS SERIES – YOU CAN REGISTER FOR THE WHOLE SERIES OR A SINGLE CLASS.
ABOUT THE 5RHYTHMS:
Created by Gabrielle Roth and practiced by tens of thousands worldwide, 5Rhythms® is a philosophy, perspective, performance art and a dynamic movement practice rooted in the principle that if you put the psyche in motion, it will heal itself. Movement is both the medicine and the metaphor, reaching across all languages, cultures and age groups to transform suffering into art, art into awareness, and awareness into action. Wherever the 5Rhythms are practiced, a community is born to dance, to sweat, to change, to support and to provide a safe space for each of us to shatter the ego’s hold and awaken the juicy, unpredictable, fascinating, edge-waling, rock star part of ourselves that years to be free.
Elisa is passionate about bringing 5Rhythms® to people who crave and want more movement and self-expression in their everyday lives. She has been dancing since the age of 5, dipping her toes into as many movement practices as she could find (ballet, contemporary, hula hoop, yoga, ecstatic dance) and now the 5Rhythms since 2002. She is the founder of Create-Move-Connect, performer and teacher with Truly Connecting Playback Theatre, researcher and community organizer.
Elisa is a certified and accredited member of the 5Rhythms Teachers Association. All class and workshop hours with Elisa count towards 5Rhythms Teacher Training pre-requisites.
