Monday Dynamic Waves ~ with Elisa

Dear dancers,

I hope you are keeping well.  This is a summer update, to share that a drop-in, ONLINE, Dynamic Waves 5Rhythms class will be offered every other week on Mondays from June 1 – Aug. 24th, from 7-8:30pm.

Registration will be open throughout the summer.  You only need to register once.  Please register at least one day before the first class you wish to attend.

Please pre-register using the link below:

Once you register, one-hour before every class, you will receive a new Zoom link  for the class and a link to the music, on Mixcloud.  Please  check your e-mail in the hour before class!

Anyone who is new to the 5Rhythms will be invited to attend a brief orientation before their first class.

The class schedule is below.  We will be dancing using a combination of Zoom and MixCloud.  The Zoom part of the gathering will be so that participants can hear me – I will be providing some light guidance.  MixCloud will be how we will listen to music during the event. You are also welcome to turn your video off on Zoom, and not be seen, although it can be helpful for some people to have the video on, to have their dance seen and to respond to others which is a big part of the 5Rhythms for many of us.

People will need to be there at 7pm sharp and doors will close at 7:15.  We will be dancing a wave that is about an hour.

Fee for classes:  I am experimenting with an approach to payment that will respect all terms of use of the platforms I am using to teach online, and that will also pay artists for the music I am using.  To this end, I would invite you become a subscriber to my Mixcloud channel, at the following link:

**Please note, you do not need to subscribe to my Mixcloud Select channel to take this class.  This is just a suggestion, for a means of payment for the class.  If you would prefer not to pay for the classes in this way, they will be for free**

Please see below for information for paying using Mixcloud:

  • The basic subscription fee is $5.00 (USD) per month for my Mixcloud channel. (They only provided a choice of USD, pounds or Euros for payment type.)
  • However, Mixcloud also lets subscribers pay more per month.  If you like, you can increase your monthly subscription fee to something of your choice, in exchange for the classes.
  • The breakdown of the subscription fees are as follows:  65% goes to the music artist, whose music we are using for our class; 5% goes towards transaction fees; 18% will go to me, and 12% will go towards Mixcloud.  So if you pay $25 USD for two classes per month, I will receive $4.50 USD from you, for that those two classes ($2.25 per class).
  • If you subscribe to my channel, you will also be able to download the mixes anywhere (offline) using the Mixcloud app and Premium playback, which means you can listen without ads or limits on the numbers of plays, on my channel.
  • The above payment mechanism is to ensure that the musical artists get paid royalties, to respect all terms of use of all of the platforms I am using and to ensure the best sound quality.
  • You can always cancel your subscription to the Mixcloud channel at any time, so if after a month, you decide not to continue online classes, you can always cancel.

**Again, if you do not wish to subscribe to my Mixcloud Select channel, you can still take the class — it will just mean that there will be no payment for the class and it will be for free.**

Please register at least one day before the first class you wish to attend, at the link below:

And the link to subscribe to my Mixcloud select account is below:

If you have any questions, please let me know, and I hope to see you on the dance floor!

Much warmth,

Dynamic Waves 5Rhythms Class Description:

Bring your heart, your feet, your body, your mind and set them all free on the dance floor.

You are invited to come and move your body in the ways your body most wants to move, inspired by music with different rhythms such as Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness. No experience is necessary. This moving meditation practice can ultimately help us become more aligned in our thoughts, feelings and actions and become more attuned to the present moment.

The 5Rhythms® are an embodied movement meditation practice. We show up in whatever state we are in, and put our feet in the beat.

Through returning again and again to the 5Rhythms map, there is a gradual working through of all of the knots that build up in us. Nothing is as predictable as change and eventually, these knots dissolve and transform. Just like following the breath becomes absolutely fascinating for an experienced meditator, so with the rhythms as we practice them, more and more.  As Gabrielle Roth said, “When you put the psyche in motion it heals itself”!

I look forward to seeing you on the dance floor, whether in your home or in the studio!

Created by Gabrielle Roth and practiced by tens of thousands worldwide, 5Rhythms® is a philosophy, perspective, performance art and a dynamic movement practice rooted in the principle that if you put the psyche in motion, it will heal itself. Movement is both the medicine and the metaphor, reaching across all languages, cultures and age groups to transform suffering into art, art into awareness, and awareness into action. Wherever the 5Rhythms are practiced, a community is born to dance, to sweat, to change, to support and to provide a safe space for each of us to shatter the ego’s hold and awaken the juicy, unpredictable, fascinating, edge-waling, rock star part of ourselves that years to be free.
